Approach to serving clients
At Velawcity, every client matter receives my full attention.
I build value-based relationships by taking the time to understand clients' objectives and to ensure I provide maximum value.
Transparency in fees and costs is paramount—my legal invoices are detailed and clear.
I treat clients as peers and partners. I educate them on the law and how it applies to their circumstances to empower them to make informed decisions, giving them personal agency.
Lena Muratkina
(she/her)
Located in downtown Vancouver, I serve clients throughout British Columbia. My representation extends to cases in the Provincial Court and the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and professional regulatory tribunals (BCFSA).

The legal services I provide to my clients are of the highest quality, cost-effective, and responsive, utilizing a modern, technology-enabled approach.
I'm diligent in gathering and organizing data, and I carefully consider all possible avenues for my clients before choosing a strategy.

I'm a careful thinker and a straight talker.
I moved to Vancouver in 2009 and worked in various legal support roles at local law firms and organizations before becoming a member of the Law Society of British Columbia. Prior to that, I lived and worked in Ireland, USA, and the Netherlands and practised law in Russia.
I'm an entrepreneur at heart and I have a nerdy side to me: I'm curious about technology and science, enjoy learning about the mind, consciousness, and various concepts and ideas.

PRICING
I offer cost-effective and transparent pricing for my legal services.

-
Hourly billing: This is suitable for matters that are unpredictable, complex, or require frequent communication (e.g., litigation). I track my time using legal accounting software and provide detailed invoices. My current hourly rate is $250 + GST & PST.
-
Flat fee: This is suitable for matters that have a clear scope (e.g., drafting a contract).
-
Please note that I do not provide legal services on a contingency basis and I do not offer free consultations.

Typically, before I begin work on your matter, I require a retainer amount (like a deposit). It gets put into the firm's trust account, kept there, and doesn’t get used until I first issue an invoice. In ongoing matters (e.g., litigation), I require to replenish the retainer amount as necessary.

See from the Law Society on Lawyer's Fees and keeping your costs down.
The purpose of the free 15-minute discovery call is to determine whether I'm able to help you with your legal issue and to ensure that you are comfortable with my work style and the fees involved. If you're considering changing lawyers, please book a discovery call to discuss.
